I'm a literacy and education specialist with international experience working as a teacher, researcher, and technical consultant. I've worked for a range of educational organisations committed Education For All, including UNICEF, Plan International, Engineers Without Borders and WhyDev. I've worked in Australia, China, Ghana, Cambodia, and India and have published and presented educational research in a range of peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. I'm passionate about literacy education, participatory visual research with children, global development, and complementary forms of schooling.
I'm currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education. I'm exploring the literacy practices of out-of-school children in two communities in northern Ghana. I'm using participatory visual research with ten children as they transition through a Complementary Basic Education program into formal schooling. I expect to submit in June 2016.
Formerly, I was an Education Officer with UNICEF Ghana, Director of Venture Support for StartSomeGood and Senior Researcher & Project Manager at Macquarie University. I've also been a consultant for Plan International, Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority, Engineers Without Borders and UNICEF on a range of education projects from digital language assessment to the Global Initiative on Out-of-School Children. I've also been a sessional lecturer at the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education and a teaching associate at Monash University.
I'm also the co-founder and Managing Director of WhyDev.
